![]() Not to mention Attila showing up like Archeon the Everchosen himself makes for a really difficult and fun survival feel and eventual final showdown.īoth good, but in very different ways, watch some let's plays or feel free to dm me if you have more questions, I like many, have far too many hours between these 2 games Also as stated above, possibly the hardest campaign in TW is the Western Roman Empire, the dicodiny of having truly elite early infantry but being worn down by absolute hordes of low tier barbarians is super fun. There are less building types than in Rome 2 but with considerations like fertility, sanitation and cultural influence from buildings, it can make for some great themed regions IE making a high fertility region your bread basket and keeping your major recruiting center near it to protect it. But this game shines in atmosphere, tone and empire building. Admittedly less faction variety, by this time in history it seems most of Europe has learned how to take what was good from Rome and leave what isn't, so it's mostly 4 cultures: Romans, Barbarians that become very Rome-like later, Eastern People's and lots of varieties of Hordes (3 or so types of goths, 2 hunic factions and a celt or two), and the dlc ad proto-vikings and other cultures. Also if you haven't played a historical title, this games pike formations are some of the most satisfying city defenses in any historical title.Ītilla: Possibly my favorite TW game period. The faction diversity is really where this game shines imo: Roman, Greek, Barbarian (In Germanic, Gaulic, Britannian, and maybe a few others), Desert Tribes, Carthaginians, Eastern, and a few hybrids of 2 or more of the above, and probably some more I'm forgetting. Rome 2: more variety to factions as said above, and as others have said, more recent dlc even though it's an older game. Think we missed one? So as your faction gains or loses territory, and as different party's influence increases or decreases, it will change. The players usually (though not always,) controls the capital province.Īs to whether they can change, every turn the game basically tries to find the best "solution" to the algorithm.
